Minutes of the March 21, 2000 Meeting

Election of Officers

S. Heinrich nominated T. Koenig for the position of Secretary. There were no further nominations. The vote was 3-0-1. S. Heinrich nominated W. Morrison for the position of Assistant Chair. There were no further nominations. The vote was 4-0-0. W. Morrison nominated S. Heinrich for the position of Chair. There were no further nominations. The vote was 3-0-1.

Meeting Schedule

S. Heinrich told the committee that the Technology Committee has requested a meeting with the PBC. They are looking for input on the disposal of outdated equipment, a discussion on new equipment and updating the technology plan. The Committee decided to hold a meeting on April 4, 2000 at 7:30 P.M. with the Technology Committee as the only thing on the agenda.

The committee agreed to continue meeting on the second Tuesday of the month with the fourth Tuesday as an alternate date. Further, the committee decided to meet both the second and fourth Tuesdays in April and May in order to work on the final space needs report. The schedule of meetings is as follows:

Meetings (except those starred) will be held in the Mastricola complex and begin at 7:30 P.M.

S. Heinrich also noted that School Board Chair Ken Coleman has expressed an interest in meeting with the committee to discuss school district land surveys. It was agreed to invite K. Coleman to the April 11 meeting.

 

Plan for Final Space Needs Report

The committee discussed what information they need to obtain in order to make a final space needs report. Among the items suggested were

  1. Meeting with fifth and sixth grade teachers, Middle School Principal Tom Levesque and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Marge Chiafery to discuss curriculum: middle school science as well as 5th grade as part of a middle school.
  2. Touring Mastricola Middle School
  3. Touring the Buker site.

It was decided to review the preliminary report with K. Coleman on April 11, invite T. Levesque on April 18 to tour the middle school and start a curriculum discussion and walk the Buker site on April 22 (weather permitting - rain date of April 29.)

Annual Goals & Objectives

By consensus, the committee agreed to table adopting new annual goals and objectives until the completion of the Space Needs Report.

On a motion from T. Koenig, seconded by W. Morrison, the committee voted unanimously to adjourn at 8:21 P.M.
