The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM by W. Morrison. He indicated that various members of the adminstration would be attending to give input and answer questions throughout the meeting.
T. Levesque presented the committee with a document (attached) that answered the various questions that the committee had formulated at a prior meeting. The committee discussed the answers and asked additional questions regarding an upper elementary school and the new middle school.
C. Custer reported that the Kindergarten Grant committee had met with a representative of the State Department of Education and that the state will be requiring that kindergarten classrooms created using the state kindergarten aid must be 1,000 square feet. The Grant committee is looking into ways to meet this stipulation.
M. Chiafery indicated that within two years of implementing kindergarten, the Readiness program should not be needed as students needing additional help or time before first grade will have services delivered differently.
M. Shevenell indicated that he felt that the Maintenance Building could be cut to 30' X 50'. He indicated he was obtaining estimates for construction of this size building. C. Morrison noted that Shirley Lemay had insisted that the workshop area must be a minimum of 40' X 60'.
The committee had additional questions regarding the scope of work that the maintenance department does and could do with a larger facility. It was decided to contact S. Lemay for further information.
T. Levesque noted that the maintenance staff use parking spaces that the middle school staff could use. Further, he reported that S. Lemay notes that the new middle school should have large maintenance closets with water access and some sort of space for storage of the field maintenance equipment.
M. Shevenell told the committee that the architect is looking at design options for the new middle school using 3 floors as opposed to 2 floors.
C. Morrison requested that all spaces be built to state standards.
On a motion from C. Morrison, seconded by everyone, the committee voted unanimously to adjourn at 10:00 P.M.
