Planning & Building Committee

Minutes of the September 19, 2000 Meeting

Present: T. Koenig, M. Morrison, W. Morrison, C. Morrison, S. Heinrich and School Board liaison P. McGrath
Excused: J. Heinrich

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by S. Heinrich.

The committee continued to review and revise the 7th draft of the report on School Space Needs. S. Heinrich provided all committee members with "first Monday attendance figures" and updated population projections from Superintendent O’Neil. The committee discussed the new figures and their impact on the space report. C. Morrison noted that the new figures continued to underscore and validate the need for a new school. The committee updated all charts in the report to include the new attendance figures and population projections.

T. Koenig made a motion to recommend the School Space Needs report. The motion was seconded by C. Morrison. S. Heinrich requested a roll call vote:

T. Koenig - Yes
M. Morrison - Yes
W. Morrison - Yes
C. Morrison - Yes
S. Heinrich - Yes

S. Heinrich asked for the School Board liaison’s vote to be recorded: P.McGrath - Yes

The vote was unanimous.

S. Heinrich reported that he had made an error when suggesting the meeting date with the School Board. The School Board has agreed to Wednesday, October 11 as the date the PBC will present the final report. S. Heinrich asked P. McGrath to see if the date could be changed to Tuesday, October 10 which is the date of a regularly scheduled PBC meeting and will not conflict with the Broad Based Committee which regularly meets on Wednesdays. The committee agreed to make the presentation on October 11 if October 10 could not be arranged.

The committee worked on details of the presentation: M. Morrison offered to make posters of several of the charts. S. Heinrich requested the report be spiral bound. The committee decided to meet before the presentation on October 9 or 10 (depending on actual date of presentation) to finalize details. S. Heinrich thanked all the members of the committee for their efforts to put together a "bullet proof" report.

C. Morrison asked if J. Heinrich would be returning as a committee member. She noted that a quorum had often been hard to obtain with J. Heinrich’s continued excused absences. She hoped that J. Heinrich would either return to active participation or formally resign. S. Heinrich said he would discuss the matter with her.

On motion from T. Koenig, seconded by C. Morrison, the committee voted unanimously to adjourn at 10:05 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
