Friday our Kindergarten students were super heroes focused on kindness and team work at Community Time. They also enjoyed watching our own AP super hero, Ms. Champlin, read one of her favorite books. She can be found reading on you tube. Thanks to our Unified Arts Team for creating this Better Together experience for our students.
Students line the hall to cheer on first graders, winners of the Penny Wars, during their celebratory run through the halls of TFS.
Thank you to Mr. McGinnis our Myusic Teacher and to TFS helpers for a wonderful and memorable TFS Winter Concert. Our 3Rd and 4Th grade chorus students sang their hearts out. Thank you families for supporting the arts.
Preschoolers excited waiting and cheering on the First Grade winners of Penny Wars!! Some recognized their siblings as they ran by and were so happy !! So much fun !
Under Ms. Saucier’s ( Physical Education Teacher) leadership. TFS students and staff won last year’s Kids Heart Challenge in Division two by raising over $17,000. In the last seven years, TFS has raised over $100, 000 for the American Heart Association through participation in the Challenge. Kudos to Ms. Saucier and our TFS community! Better Together!
Dear TFS Families, Happy Holidays from TFS. We look forward to Better Together in 2020 . Mrs DeLuca and Ms. Champlin
Dear TFS Families, We had a special visit from Veteran Mr. DiMare and his family at Thorntons Ferry School. They visited our school because Mrs. Walter and her 4th Grade Class wrote letters to him and other veterans in recognition for their years of service and for participation in a Honor Flight. Mr. DiMare and his family were so touched by the cards, they came to Thorntons Ferry to say thank you to Mrs. Walter and our students. He presented artifacts and stories from his years in the Navy and his family kindly gave each student in Mrs. Walter’s class a puzzle for the Holidays. We are so proud of Mrs. Walter and all she does for our Veterans and for our students who once again demonstrated kindness and gratitude. Happy Holidays from TFS and Better Together!
Students in Mrs. Flander’s first grade classroom designed and engineered their own roller coasters as part of continued focus on “steam” learning at TFS. Great creativity by some of our first graders.
Morgan Flett former TFS student, now in a Sophomore at Merrimack High, is one of many mentors helping students at TFS. Thanks Morgan and all of our High School mentors.
Dear TFS Families, Thanks to the collaboration with parent Kevin Mahoney and Nike (his employer) for the first day of our partnership with having Nike athletes volunteer with our students during recess. Every Wednesday, the athletes (who have gone through training and safety screens) are working with our students on their social skills during recess. Also, thanks to the generosity of Nike, every time Nike comes to our school to volunteer, Nike contributes money to our TFS PTTF. The TFS PTTF is allocating this money for future playground considerations. Thanks Kevin for your support and to all of your Nike athletes for helping our students. Better Together! Mrs. DeLuca and Ms. Champlin
Thank you to all the room Parents at TFS for amazing parties and activities. Great day at TFS. Better Together! Happy Halloween!
Friday at TFS our students and staff rallied together to wish Ms. Champlin good luck on her marathon run this Sunday. She has been training for months and is a model of our school qualities of perseverance, grit and effort. We are proud of you Ms. Champlin. Soar like a hawk!
Friday as an amazing day at TFS. We had our first whole school assembly hosted and organized by our 4th grade students. We focused on kindness at recess and introduced our new kindness incentive for students symbolized with “being in the right track”. Thank you to our 4th Grade team. Better Together!
Third grade students visited the Kearsarge Indian Museum in Warner, New Hampshire as part of their Social Studies curriculum. Students took a walking tour of Medicine woods. They learned about different species of trees and plants, how to identify them, and uses for each. Inside the museum students experienced Native American cultures from across the United States. They enjoyed the different exhibits and the hands on artifacts they could touch.
Mrs. Lane's 2nd grade class explored U.S. Landmarks and symbols using virtual reality goggles from the Google Expeditions kit. They went on a virtual field trip to Mt. Rushmore, the Washington Monument (from the bottom and from the top!), the Lincoln Memorial, the Mall, toured the White House inside and out, and other significant landmarks.
Thank you to Mr McGinnis for his musical talents in creating our first school song. Each day after the pledge, we will play our school song. See the words below and click on the link below to hear the TFS School Song. Go TFS Hawks! We are Better Together!
A big thank you to the PTTF and in particular Mrs Gill and Mrs. Desmaris for providing Popsicles for our students and staff. Our school was surprised by Principals’ Popsicle Day Friday afternoon. Lots of smiles and excitement. Our students and staff earned this special treat for always being Better Together. Thanks to our amazing PTTF.
