    WELCOME TO PRESCHOOL AT J.M.E.S.

We are so excited to be welcoming our students back into the classroom!

There are three preschool classrooms located here at James Mastricola Elementary School.

Your teachers this year are Angi Perron (Rm. 2), Colby Wygant (Rm. 4) and Annie Bohigian (Rm. 6).

We have been working hard to create an engaging and safe space for our students and are anxious to welcome them back to school!

    LEARNING GOALS

Our preschool utilizes The Creative Curriculum , a whole child approach that recognizes the importance and interdependence of all areas of growth, including physical, social-emotional, speech, and cognitive skills that will serve them for life.  We strive to integrate concepts through meaningful units of study, project-based learning, and a culture that encourages students to constantly observe, question, and explore their interests.

Our assessment model Teaching Strategies GOLD is directly linked to the learning objectives of The Creative Curriculum and is based on continual observation of students in their natural learning environment.  Our program recognizes the variability in development and growth during these early childhood years, and include developmental rubrics for each learning objective. To accomodate that, many lessons, materials, and activities in preschool are open ended.  That way, no matter the level your child is working at, they will have the opportunity to both be successful and expand their learning.

When your child begins in preschool, they will be met where they are and be provided the resources, support, and experiences that enable them to continue to grow on their own learning path.

We utilize the Second Step curriculum for preschool to support social-emotional goals.
