  • In our Equations unit so far we have identified parts of an equations, translated verbal sentences into simple algebraic equations, learned to solve one-step algebraic equations and how to check our solution.

    Week of 4/16-4/20

    •      We will be looking at translating verbal problems into two-step algebraic equations.
    •      We will be reviewing things we have already covered but are important to practice and learn to automaticity like: order of operations (GEMDAS), evaluating expressions and equations, simplifying - combining like terms, the vocabulary for naming parts of an equation, and solving/checking solutions for one-step equations.

    Weeks of 4/30-5/4 and 5/7-5/11 and 5/14-5/18

    •      When we come back from vacation on 4/30, we will be reviewing one-step equations, then learning how to solve two-step equations including equations using the Distributive Property.  This is Topic 5 in the workbook.
    •      Next, we will apply all we have learned about Equations to Inequalities.

    Weeks of 5/21-5/25, 5/28-6/1, and 6/4-6/8

    •      We will be working in Topic 8 in the workbook: Geometry.

    Weeks of 6/4-6/8 and 6/11-6/15 and 6/18-6/22

    •      We will finish up Geometry topics.
    •      We will dedicate time to reviewing for the end of year test.

End-of Year test will be a timed (90 minutes) test.  It will be onFriday, June 15.
