    SPRING

    Spring has sprung!!

There are new guidelines for students returning to school following any illness:

Must be FEVER FREE (fever is 100.0 or above) for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications such as Advil (ibuprofen) or Tylenol (acetaminophen)

The 24 hour clock starts SIX hours after you administer Tylenol and EIGHT hours after you administer Advil...it does not start when the fever is gone shortly after giving these medications

Symptoms of illness should be improved/improving and manageable in school

If you have any questions about these guidelines, please reach out to me BEFORE sending your student back to school!

If your student needs to be able to take medications during the school day:

You can find all of the forms for both over the counter and prescription medications in my "Filing Cabinet" tab.
I have stock of Tums, Ibuprofen (Advil) and Acetaminophen Extra Strength (XS Tylenol) in my office.  You do not need to supply this to me unless you would like your student to have their own supply.  Just complete the form and send it in with your child or email it to me!
This form needs to be signed EVERY year,  and remember that last year's form does not cover this year!

**If your student can not swallow a regular pill form of Advil or Tylenol and needs either liquid or chewable forms, you will need to provide this for them**

If the medication is a prescription, please have your physician complete the appropriate prescription authorization form and bring a supply to my office with the completed forms.  Students are not allowed to bring in their own meds.

**If you want your student to be able to hand carry and self administer either their inhaler, insulin and/or diabetic supplies or their Epi-Pen we will need the middle portion of the prescription authorization form completed and signed by your physician.  We will also need parental consent signature to self administer which can be found at the bottom of this form.

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAND CARRY OR SELF ADMINISTER ANY MEDICATIONS OTHER THAN INHALERS, INSULIN AND EPI-PENS.
