Explanation of GPA
-
RANKING GPA:
The ranking GPA represents a student’s grade that he/she received in a particular class, at a particular level, and is weighted. Asterisk level classes are not included in the calculation.
The ranking GPA is used to rank students in each class and is used to select our valedictorian and salutatorian. It is also used to identify seniors, at graduation time, as our top fifteen percent, who receive an honor stole.
CONVERTED GPA ON A 4. 0 SCALE:
The converted GPA represents a student's grade that he/she receives in a particular class. All classes are treated equally and none are weighted. An A in an Advanced Placement English course has the same value as an A in a Standard English course.
The converted GPA is primarily used when a college is asking what a student's GPA is on a 4.0 scale.
