This course is designed for students who are interested in becoming peer leaders at MHS.  It will provide students with skills in public speaking, group facilitation, problem solving, and leadership.  Students will also learn conflict resolution skills.  Peer leaders will serve as a bridge between the stakeholders within our community (teachers, families, administration), and the students.  Both long and short-term projects/activities will engage students in dealing with numerous health risk factors.  The Peer Leadership Course works to improve the school culture through: developing social responsibility and self-esteem in students, community service opportunities and modeling pro-social behavior, opportunities for student-led programs (to educate peers), and provide students with opportunities to develop and practice leadership and social action skills in order to become catalysts for change.
